Another image of the devastated area just to the north of the runway. Although I never walked that far from my aircraft (and airstrip bunker, incidently), the odor of death from the ruins was overpowering when the winds drifted from the north. A few of the Huey crewmembers and LOH scouts walked the area and came back disgusted to report many NVA cadavers laying around unburied. The odor lasted for months!
