Laotians Retake Key Ridge
VIENTIANE (UPI) --Government troops Friday night recaptured the Skyline Ridge forming a natural defending wall north of the government defense base at Long Cheng, informed Laotian and American sources said Saturday.
North Vietnamese forces virtually controlled Skyline Ridge during a major offensive against Long Cheng, 80 miles north of Vientiane, in early March.
The sources said government troops dislodged the communists from the ridge after a massive artillery and mortar shelling. They said Communist resistance was light.
No casualty reports were given.
