Agnew Flies To Viet For Brief Parley

BANGKOK (UPI) Vice President Spiro T. Agnew left here Wednesday for Saigon, where he was expected to discuss the war with Vietnamese and American officials.

Agnew was expected to return to Bangkok the same day for a meeting with Field Marshal Thanom Kittikachorn, chairman of the ruling National Executive Council, and other Thai leaders. The flight to Saigon takes about an hour.

Agnew and his party arrived here Tuesday afternoon on a special U.S. Air Force plane from Tokyo, where the vice president participated in ceremonies marking the reversion of Okinawa from the United States to Japan. He is to return to the United States Thursday morning.

Agnew was the guest of honor Tuesday night at a dinner hosted by Thanom. Wednesday night, the vice president will host a dinner for Thanom and other Thai leaders at the residence of U.S. Ambassador Leonard Unger.
