Anderson: Nixon Told Hue In Peril
BOSTON (UPI) --Columnist Jack Anderson said Monday that President Nixon has a report from Saigon which says Hue probably will fall to the North Vietnamese.
According to Anderson, the fall of Hue could mean the fall of the regime of South Vietnamese President Nguyen Van Thieu.
"The President has on his desk a secret report, according to my information, that the situation actually is quite desperate," Anderson told the National Law Enforcement Seminar sponsored by Northeastern University.
Anderson said the report says "That Hue is doomed to fall, and that if Hue does fall that the Thieu government is likely to fall with it."
The report was prepared in Saigon, Anderson said, and he learned of it through sources at the White House.
