Says Our Viet Efforts Unselfish

WASHINGTON (AP) --Rep. William Scott, R-Va., said Monday that American servicemen have not died for territory or American privilege in Vietnam, but to help establish the concept that no nation will be allowed to take over another nation by force.

Scott was designated to represent President Nixon at the annual Memorial Day wreath-laying ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Arlington Cemetery.

Scott said Americans who have died in Vietnam have given their lives to preserve the right of a small nation to have a government of its own choosing.

He praised Nixon for the results of his summit meeting with Russian leaders in Moscow.
